Katapult Ocean is proud to announce the first recipient of its Ocean Impact Prize: Dr. Sylvia Earle. This prize recognizes individuals for their work towards creating a thriving ocean, and Dr. Earle has been chosen as the first awardee for her lifetime of contribution to ocean conservation and restoration.

“It was our privilege to present our first-ever Ocean Impact Prize yesterday evening to our distinguished guest, Dr. Sylvia Earle, for her lifetime contribution to ocean conservation and restoration,” said Jonas Skattum Svegaarden, CEO of Katapult Ocean.

The award ceremony took place at the Sustainable Ocean Summit in Bergen, in the presence of a diverse group of ocean innovators, investors, and changemakers, including several Katapult Ocean Portfolio Companies. The event was co-hosted by Farvatn and was also attended by Builders Vision, Planet Ocean Fund, WWF and the World Economic Forum

Recognising her lifetime achievements, Dr. Earle was presented with a special edition Ocean Bottle, which funds the collection of one ton of ocean plastic. The presentation of the Ocean Impact prize also aligned with Katapult Ocean’s signing of a commitment to a moratorium on seabed mining with WWF.

“Dr. Earle’s passion and advocacy are an inspiration to the whole impact ecosystem,” said Svegaarden. “We are proud to honor her with the Ocean Impact Prize and hope to encourage others to follow in her footsteps towards a thriving ocean.”

Katapult Ocean is committed to making a positive impact on the world through investments in technology-driven companies that have the potential to address global challenges facing our oceans. The Ocean Impact Prize underscores our commitment to working towards a more sustainable future.

Congratulations to Dr. Sylvia Earle on receiving the first-ever Ocean Impact Prize from Katapult Ocean! We look forward to continuing to support innovative solutions that help create a healthier and more vibrant ocean.
